SALON Theatre in Kingston
SALON Theatre has called Kingston home for two and a half decades, all the while exploring the life and legacy of Canada’s first Prime Minister. It all started with Sir John, Eh? The Musical, written by Jim Garrard and Grant Heckman in the mid- 1990s. When asked why he chose to write about Sir John A., Garrard points to the historical architecture of Kingston, Ontario where he was living and working. He explains, “[this city] makes you think of the constituency John A. represented for almost all of his adult life. If he’s not a local hero, I don’t know who is.” Over the years, SALON has continued to recreate itself, as generations of Kingston-based actors, musicians and artists have left their mark on each new production.
